Horse-hair much wanted . . . [15 lines, advertisement
signed] Nathaniel Phillips, Jun., followed by:]
Dear countrymen all, to you I call,
O hearken to my ditty,
Horse-hair's a thing which wealth may bring
To country, town, or city.--
Sieve-bottoms we may have, you see,
In our own country made.
O this will be, I hope to see,
One fine branch of our trade.
Two pounds of hair, I do declare,
Will make nigh on a dozen,
Which when you've half, 'twill make you laugh,
To see your pocket's risen.
Fifty dollars a pound (though it is a great sound)
For horse-hair now I give,
And as much more, I'd give before
My friends should want a sieve.
